In just a few short days morrison-in-mono & I will become official citizens of Asheville, North Carolina! I am beyond excited & ready for us to start a new chapter of our lives together. Asheville is such an incredible city & I don’t think there could be a better match for J & I. We already felt so much more welcome, alive & at home in AVL than we ever have here (in the town we were both born & raised in!!!) I can’t wait to embrace all that Appalachia has to offer us. I’m so in love, so happy & so ready for a full life in WNC.

"They do not teach you this in school. They do not show you the beauty of existing, they do not show you the wonder of the Earth, they do not show you the unity that human beings are. They show you who is better, who is worse. They show you what they need to show you in order for their system to survive. They do not show you love."(via sublimesea)

I don’t owe anyone an explanation. If it makes me happy I’m moving forward. That is all. Life is too short to stand around explaining yourself to everyone. Go forth living.

Some pictures from the party I catered last night. I had so much fun cooking & serving for such a laid back group of folks. They were celebrating Bob’s achievement of going running 365 days a year for the last 25 years. That is 9,125 days of running & a great excuse to invite 90 of your friends over for lots of food & booze. We had an eclectic menu — Jerk Chicken, Citrus marinated kebobs, caramelized onion tartlets, elotes-style custard, feta stuffed bacon wrapped dates, fresh fruit w/ vanilla bean cream cheese dip, tons of seasonal veggies w/ baba ganouj & homemade buttermilk ranch. It feels so good to be doing what I love, getting paid for it & having fun. I love my little life.

I have spent the last two days exactly where I belong… In my kitchen.
In the last couple days I have made:
a) 45 jars of jam - part of it is Strawberry Chardonnay & the rest is Balsamic Blackberry & Sage.
B) A half gallon of fresh ricotta cheese
C) 5 pounds of potato/chive gnocchi
and now I’m starting on making semolina pasta - farfalle & cavatelli
Somehow I also found time to barbeque chicken and grill some asparagus & sweet potatoes for dinner for me and morrison-in-mono
Over the next couple days I will be making naan, focaccia, scones, and turnovers for the farmer’s market. Let’s hope all this work pays off on Saturday morning!! Can I just say how good it feels to be cooking all day!?! This is right where I am meant to be in this world.

It’s officially Morrison-in-mono’s birthday now. And this is the cake I made for him a day early since I have to work late on the actual day. It’s his favorite…vanilla bean cake with coconut cream and toasted coconut. And he’s finally 25 which makes me feel less old. Congrats sweety your insurance rate might go down!!! Or not since you got 1000 speeding tickets this year :-) I love you babe and I am sooo happy to share the rest of our birthdays together!
